A house fire in the hamlet of Point Anne in the far eastern end of Belleville has left a family of four homeless.
As reported yesterday (Wednesday), flames broke out in a small older wood frame house shortly after 8 o’clock in the morning.
The fire started in the back of the house. The exact cause has not been determined but is considered accidental.
Belleville, Tyendinaga and Mohawk fire departments responded and a back hoe was instrumental in finally dousing the stubborn fire.
Neighbouring structures were not affected. The damage estimate is $100,000 and the home was insured.
