It looks like the issues surrounding the proposed Melrose Quarry added onto Long’s Quarry won’t be settled any time soon.
In a statement issued to Quinte News, Chair of Citizens Against Mulrose Quarry, Sue Munro, says hearings by the provincial Land Planning Appeal Tribunal won’t be held early in 2020.
Munro reports after taking part in a teleconference to determine the issues list, and set dates.
She says the two outstanding issues that the parties do not agree on are traffic and the proponent’s compliance history.
The citizen’s group mentions concerns about the effect of drilling on nearby wells, and the noise from explosives used to break up the limestone.
The Tribunal hearing, once a date is set, is expected to take about eight days.
