Belleville city council will decide whether or not to institute a policy to deal with persistent vexatious or frivolous demands made upon staff or council members by people dealing with the municipality.
At Tuesday’s meeting council will see a policy on “Unacceptable Customer Behaviour”.
Other municipalities were consulted prior to the writing of the policy.
There are many examples listed of what unacceptable behaviour could be and include refusing to specify grounds of a complaint, continuous and numerous phone calls or emails, secretly recording conversations, and refusal to accept decisions already made.
Should a person be deemed as acting in an unacceptable manner by the city CAO that person’s contact with the city could be restricted.
