Seven arrested, $6,500 worth of drugs seized

$6,500 worth of drugs have been seized and seven people will appear in bail court today (Thursday) following a drug investigation.

Belleville Police report members of the Intelligence/Street Crime Unit and Quinte West OPP were conducting a drug investigation on Tuesday, November 5, when they observed a home invasion.

A 911 call to police reported a robbery in progress at a Station Street home where a male resident was sprayed with mace, kicked and a cell phone was stolen.

The suspects believed to be responsible were located at a local motel and five men and two women were arrested.

Police also seized 42 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of $4,200, 23 grams of cocaine with a street value of $2,300, 2.7 grams of hashish, approximately 125 prescription pills, digital scales, drug packaging, a bb gun and bear spray.

As a result of the observations made during the investigation and while effecting the arrests the following individuals were arrested and charged.

Belleville resident Nicholas O’Doherty, 40, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon, two counts of – possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime. He was also on a recognizance of bail on drug related charges and as a result was charged with four counts of breach of recognizance.

Belleville resident Jacob Kirton, 33, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon, two counts – possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime. He had two warrants from Belleville Police Service for breach probation and fail to attend court and outstanding warrants from Orillia OPP and Barrie Police Service.

Belleville resident Matthew Bushey, 36, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon, two counts – possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime.

Belleville resident Tasha Hennessey, 26, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon, two counts – possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime.

Belleville resident Bryan Smith, 35, was arrested and charged with robbery with a weapon, two counts – possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime.

Belleville resident Christopher Thirlwall, 33, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime. He also had warrants from Belleville Police Service for breach probation and was on a bail recognizance and as a result of the investigation was charged with two counts of breach of that recognizance.

Belleville resident Jennifer Sweet, 33, was arrested and charged with two counts – possession for trafficking – cocaine and methamphetamine and proceeds of crime.
