Expansion plans are in the works for St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School in Belleville’s east end.
An initial public meeting will be held this Monday as the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board applies for rezoning of land the school now sits on at Bridge Street East and Herchimer Avenue.
The board hopes to demolish the current two-storey part of the school and build another two-storey and larger addition.
If approved, the expansion would increase the number of classrooms at St. Joseph School from 14 to 20.
No decision will be made on the rezoning application at Monday’s meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee as a staff recommendation will come at a later date following public input.
