It’s been a busy month for staff at Collins Bay Institution who have made a number of contraband seizures recently.
Between October 3 and October 12 staff seized various types of contraband with a total institutional value of more than $256,300.
Over the course of the two weeks, staff found 510 grams of crystal meth, 625 grams of tobacco and 628 grams of marijuana, along with cell phones, phone chargers and accessories.
Prison officials suspect the packages of contraband were all dropped by drones and say the vigilance of correctional officers and information shared with staff, helped lead to the seizures.
No charges have been laid, but police have been notified and are investigating, along with the CSC and Collins Bay officials.
