Students not old enough to vote still voted across Canada in the federal election in a program called Student Vote.
In Bay of Quinte riding students from elementary, secondary, public, Catholic, and other schools took part.
The race was close with the Conservative Tim Durkin topping the ballot with 1,095 votes. The NDP candidate in Bay of Quinte Stephanie Bell finished a close second, tallying 1,060 votes.
And close behind her was Liberal Neil Ellils, followed by the Green’s Danny Celovsky and finishing well back was the People’s Party candidate Paul Bordonaro.
In Hastings-Lennox and Addington, the results were similar with Conservatives on top followed by the NDP and then the Liberals.
However in Northumberland-Peterborough South riding, the NDP candidate finished first followed by the Greens and then the Conservatives.
Nationally, students selected a minority Liberal government while the Conservatives won the popular vote.
