The official push is on to bring a dialysis clinic to Quinte West.
The OurTMH medical advocacy group has began a campaign to push the province to set up a dialysis clinic in Trenton, easing costly transportation times and making the four-to-eight hour process more convenient for patients.
Dr. David Weinstein is backing the campaign and told CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show Friday the need for dialysis service is growing.
Currently, local patients have to travel to Kingston, Oshawa, or Peterborough for treatment and patient Louise, who spoke to Quinte News about the process, says the travel is burdensome and expensive for patients.
OurTMH’s plan is to locate the Quinte clinic at Trenton Memorial Hospital. OurTMH chair Mike Cowan says that would be a perfect fit.
