Changes are being proposed to what has been a controversial business and property along the shores of Picton Bay.
The owners of Picton Terminals have applied to the county for a zoning by-law and site plan amendment which would allow them to expand the longtime commercial shipping port’s business.
If approved the rezoning would allow for two new big docks to be installed, each 36.5 metres or 120 feet long and allow more space on the site for storage of bulk dry goods.
One of the new docks would be set aside for tug boats that haul huge barges in and out and the other would be used for the docking of large tour boats.
A large new gatehouse is also proposed.
Council is holding a special public meeting to discuss the proposal on October 24 at Shire Hall.
