The People’s Party of Canada’s Bay of Quinte riding candidate was a guest on CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show as part of the Meet the Candidate series.
Paul Bordonaro was born and raised in Toronto and ran several businesses for many years before eventually owning a movie theatre which he sold several years ago.
Bordonaro says he was a regular visitor to the Quinte region over the years and liked the area so much he decided to retire in Carrying Place six years ago.
He said he and his family had been discussing starting a new political party and calling it the People’s Party of Canada when along came Maxime Bernier who actually started a party by the same name.
Bordonaro says he liked what the party stood for and became a candidate.
Meanwhile the party and its leader Maxime Bernier have been under fire as being against immigration.
But Bordonaro says all they would do is cut back on the number of immigrants and focus on “qualified” immigrants.
He says the country’s social infrastructure, like healthcare, is overwhelmed.
