Charges have been lessened against a Quinte West woman originally charged with second degree murder in the death of a Quinte West man in June of last year.
In court Friday it was decided that 46-year-old Nicole Scardino would instead face any or all of the following charges: manslaughter (by criminal negligence), manslaughter (by unlawful act), criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death, and assault with a weapon.
Scardino was arrested and charged after 49-year-old Samuel Andrews was killed after being hit by a vehicle at a West Street Trenton address.
A second degree murder conviction carries a minimum sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole for 10 years while there is no minimum sentence for a manslaughter conviction.
She appears in Superior Court for pretrial on December 11.
