Everyone should feel free to walk a community’s streets at night, and that includes women and girls.
That will be the basic theme of the annual Take Back the Night rally and march being held Thursday evening in Belleville.
Take Back the Night is an event meant to raise awareness about the sexual and gender based violence against women that continues to be prevalent.
Rallies are being held around the world Thursday.
In Belleville, the rally, featuring local speakers, starts at 6 p.m. in Market Square with a march to follow.
