Belleville city council has proclaimed October to be Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk sported a purple tie and shirt in honour of the occasion at council’s Monday meeting.
Purple is the official colour of Child Abuse Prevention Month and several “Go Purple” events are planned, including several
at local hockey games.
Purple pins, t-shirts and other items are available for sale at Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society.
Thursday, October 24, is “Go Purple Day” throughout the region and people are urged to wear the colour on that day.
