Belleville council is kicking in some cash to make sure the 60th anniversary of the city’s Christmas light display will be one to remember this season.
In 1959 the Foster family started a Christmas light display on Emily Street after their son Billy and a friend Art “Sonny” Colloden were killed in a traffic accident the year before on Christmas Eve.
Councillor Kelly McCaw says this years Festival of Lights kick-off will be special.
Council agreed to pay $15,000 for the fireworks display.
There will also be live entertainment nightly at the Belleville Festival of Lights in Jane Forrester Park near Meyers Pier.
