The Belleville Santa Claus parade and in particular its route will be back before city council this afternoon.
As it did last year, the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, is proposing a route change for the parade.
The Chamber, with support from the Belleville Police Service and others involved in the parade, wants the parade to start at the fairgrounds and head straight east through the downtown on Bridge Street to end in the Bayview Mall parking lot.
Belleville council voted against the new route last year after pushback from the Belleville Downtown Improvement Association so the traditional Quinte Secondary to Front Street route was used.
The Quinte Secondary property will not be available this year.
Meanwhile, while some on the BDIA board support the new Bridge Street west to east route a motion to support it was defeated at a meeting in August.
The Santa Claus parade is scheduled for Sunday November 17 starting at 4:30.
The Chamber’s report can be seen here.
