Council in Centre Hastings will hold a special meeting next week to deal with a number of issues before them, including the Moadoc off-leash dog park.
Mayor Tom Deline told Quinte News the discussion around the park requires more time then they had at their meeting Monday night.
The Madoc Off-Leash Dog Park Association (MOLDPA) is hoping to create a partnership between the municipality and committee.
Volunteers currently raise funds to maintain, improve and operate the park, but are now asking the municipality to take over the legal responsibility for the park because they lack the volunteers and expertise.
The committee would be responsible for the operation of the park, the public relations and social media, fundraising for the park and management of raised funds.
The dog park is currently a not-for-profit but no longer meets the requirements of a not-for-profit and if the municipality agrees to work with the committee, the not-for-profit corporation would be dissolved.
The dog park officially opened in June 2016 and is used year round.
Council will meet Tuesday, September 24 at noon in council chambers to discuss this matter further.
