The Mayor of Quinte West says he’s fed up with large trucks getting stuck under a railway overpass in the city.
The overpass at 2nd Dug Hill Road has been plagued with incidents in recent years, where trucks that are far too big to fit underneath, still attempt to go through, and then get stuck.
It leads to lengthy traffic delays and ties up emergency and public works crews, who need to help remove the vehicles.
Mayor Jim Harrison tells Quinte News, enough is enough.
Quinte West OPP Detachment Commander Christina Reive says there have been 11 incidents at the bridge in the last year, including five where the bridge was struck and six where police had to help vehicles turn around.
She adds that the police force charges every driver who is involved in an incident there and they are working with GPS companies to get info added to identify the overpass as a “low bridge”.
