The local United Way announced its campaign goal for this year at an event at Quinte Mall’s Kindness Court this morning (Thursday).
Executive Director of United Way Hastings and Prince Edward Brandi Hodge says the goal is $1.95 million.
She is confident that number will be reached.
As the campaign gets underway, 21% of the goal has already been pledged. Last year the United Way raised $1.88 million dollars.
This year’s Campaign Chair is Don Williams. He is the Business Site Director of Kennametal Stellite (formerly Deloro Stellite) in Belleville.
Williams says he wants to get more local manufacturers involved with supporting the United Way.
The local United Way provides financial support to 44 different agencies.
The United Way also named its campaign cabinet, tasked with helping the agency reach its fundraising goal.

Deputy Chief Carl Bowker, Hastings – Quinte Paramedics
Liz Knuude – BMO Nesbitt Burns
Chris Doig – Enbridge Gas Inc.
Rosi Oulette- Canadian Mental Health Association – another United Way funded agency
Inspector Sheri Meeks – Belleville Police Services
Major Kim Horan – 8 Wing Trenton
Master Warrant Officer Derek Gauthier – 8 Wing Trenton
Peter Smith – Peter Smith Chev
Kim Egan – GH Manufacturing
