A long dispute over a sewer system in a proposed new subdivision near the lake in Brighton is coming to a conclusion in the developer’s favour.
At its meeting Monday Brighton council voted to have staff prepare a final subdivision agreement allowing a low pressure sewer system instead of a gravity fed one for the Lakeside Landing development.
Two years ago, Brighton council decided to only allow a gravity fed system in the 45 lot development and the developer, former Mayor Mark Walas, took the matter to the Ontario Municipal Board, which ruled either system would be fine.
Current Mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander says the past council was given conflicting reports on which system would be suitable.
Recently council received 3 different expert opinions and all said a low pressure system would work.
The Lakeside Landing subdivision property is located near Presqu’ile Parkway and Lakeshore Road.
