G-Hawks lose in Brantford
The Trenton Golden Hawks OJHL pre-season record fell to 2-2-1 with a 5-1 loss to the Brantford 99ers.
Zach Thompson scored the lone goal while Michael Heward stopped 31 shots while going the distance for the G-Hawks.
Trenton wraps up their exhibition schedule Friday night when they host the Wellington Dukes at 7:30 at the Dunc.
In Junior “C” pre-season play, the Picton Pirates beat the Gananoque Islanders 5-1. Nick Kyte and Nick Kitby-Palliser had a goal and assist for the Pirates.
Tal Trees win slugfest
The baseballs were flying in Melrose as Tal Trees outlasted the Read Free Flow Petroleum Young Guns 16-14 to square the best of 5 “B” final at a game.
Cole McCambridge led the offence while going four for four. Ryan Abrams and Parris Yendrick added 3 hits each.

Holmes has rough day at Nationals
Napanee’s Caden Holmes shot a 9 over 81 to fall back into 19th place after 3 rounds of the Mizuno Canadian National Junior Golf Championship in Welland.
Holmes is 19 over through 54 holes and trails the leader Bavake Sihota of Caledon by 19 strokes. Sihota has a commanding 7 shot lead heading into today’s final round.
Quinte Royals host the Province
The Quinte Royals will host the Province this weekend at the Ontario Baseball Association Peewee championships.
Twelve teams including Quinte are competing at Bain Park and Don Ogden Park in Trenton.
The Royals play St. Catherines at 2 this afternoon (Friday) in the double knockout tournament. Games run through Sunday.
