Hastings County officials say there’s good progress underway on the Eastern Ontario Regional Network to improve internet service to the area.
Speaking to Quinte News following the county council meeting Thursday, CAO Jim Pine said the work is ramping up, heading to some positive steps.
Pine anticipates that while construction is happening, improvements in service will start to happen at the same time. He expects that will begin in 2020.
He said certain areas will be targeted and that will be decided through the request for proposal process. “We know where the gaps of service are. We know we need to go there. We’ll be targeting those areas.”
The Eastern Ontario network is expected to cost $213 million, shared through three levels of government and private companies.
