Prince Edward County’s farm-to-table sector has received $100,000 in funding from the Federal Government.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis announced Thursday at Parsons Brewing Company that local sectors including Parsons, The County Food Hub, Prince Eddy’s Brewing Company, Pyramid Ferments, PEC Foods and the County Soda Company will all receive funding under the Rural Innovation Initiative, which is funded by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
Ellis says that it’s not only about food in the community but it’s also about tourism.
The owner of Parsons Brewing Company, Chris Parson explains how the funding will help.
Prince Eddy’s Brewery is also a recipient of the funding. Owner Aaron McKinney explains how his company will use the funding.
The investment will help local food and drink enterprises improve productivity and attract more customers from the community.
Recipients will also be participating in a sustainable food and agtech boot camp this fall that will help raise money towards financial and social returns in rural communities.
