The Hastings-Quinte Social Services joint committee has held the line with this year’s budget.
Today (yesterday) the committee approved a figure of 78-point-three million dollars…an increase of less than half a percent. The three municipalities…Belleville, Quinte West, and Hastings County, pay 31-point-four million with the province picking up the rest. Belleville has actually had a decrease of 143-thousand dollars in its levy, Quinte West has an increase of almost 600-thousand, and Hasting County a levy hike of 100-thousand.
