Quinte West has its eye on getting the province to allow it to have more urban-designated land for development.
Mayor Jim Harrison tells Quinte News this is a priority when the Quinte West delegation attends the Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Ottawa, beginning Sunday.
Harrison says he will be meeting with Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark.
The mayor says his city doesn’t have enough land for housing over the next 10 years and hopes to have some rural land designated urban for that purpose.
Quinte West will also meet with the Minister of Finance Charles Sousa about the Municipal Partnership Fund which provides $1.3 million a year for the city.
Harrison says he’s concerned “there is talk about eliminating it.”
