The federal government has announced a grant that will help Indigenous women in the northern part of our listening area to grow their business ventures.
MP Mike Bossio announced a commitment of $266,250 from the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy, which will provide customized training to Indigenous women in the Kijicho Manito Madaouskarini Algonquin Nation, near Bancroft.
The money will be distributed through the Community Futures Development corporation of North and Central Hastings and South Algonquin.
The cash will be used to host training sessions to help Indigenous women there start and scale their businesses and to leverage resources and training material from the CFDC.
Bossio says final funding is subject to negotiation of contribution agreements between the parties involved.
