Prince Edward County Council is being asked to go ahead with previously approved downtown revitalization plans for the five largest communities in the County.
OMAFRA granted the municipality over $59,500 for the Main Street Revitalization Initiative through the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.
The action plans for the downtowns of Picton, Bloomfield, Wellington, Consecon and Rossmore as well as a county-wide plan will see implementation following council’s approval.
The funds will go to the business associations to implement the specific action plans.
The funds must be spent by March 2020 and can be used towards things like façade improvement, improved parking opportunities, improved way finding signage, cycling racks, “shop local” initiatives, and to support adaptive reuse of heritage buildings and downtown beautification (flower boxes, banners et cetera).
Council meets at Shire Hall at 7 p.m.
