A Port Hope man is facing charges of fraud over $5,000 after he allegedly took money for falsely claiming to install internet towers on two properties in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.
Northumberland OPP say the man claimed to work for a legitimate internet company and told the victims the towers would greatly increase their internet signals but the victims needed to pay a portion of the cost up front.
Once the funds were received, police say the victims found it very hard to reach the man before they realized the suspect had no intentions of providing the service he claimed.
Brian O’Donaghue, 29, is currently before the courts.
