Hospice Quinte is searching for volunteers.
Interested individuals will need to register for an upcoming 10-week volunteer training program.
The program is scheduled to start mid-September.
Volunteers give comfort and care to patients, caregivers and families during the end of life and a visiting hospice volunteer can fill the gap between family members and professional caregivers.
Hospice Quinte’s 10-week Visiting Volunteer training program will take place from September 17, 2019 – November 19, 2019. Classes will be held each Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Hospice Quinte office at Bay View Mall (2-470 Dundas St. E., Belleville). There is no cost to register for training.
Topics that will be covered over the course of the 10-week training program include, Introduction to Hospice Quinte and Hospice Palliative Care, Role of the Volunteer, Body Mechanics, Comfort Measures and more.
Hospice Quinte Visiting Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and not have experienced a significant loss (such as death, divorce, or loss of job or home) within the last year.
Individuals who are interested in becoming a Hospice Quinte Visiting Volunteer can apply online at https://hospicequinte.ca/portfolio-items/visiting-volunteers/. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Selected candidates will be called for a screening interview and will be required to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
