Construction in Belleville is booming as 2019 passes the halfway mark.
The value of construction so far this year has reached the $86 million mark, $23.8 million of that in the month of July alone.
Chief Building Official Ted Marecak tells Quinte News it’s very busy in all three areas, residential, commercial and industrial.
He says a number of major projects are not yet added on.
Marecek points to a long list of projects underway including the 24 Dundas Street retirement residence, the new Hampton Inn, and the Proctor and Gamble projects.
“The city has just issued a permit for a new eight-storey apartment building on Station Street, and the Hampton Inn on the west end of Bell Boulevard is nearing completion. Vision Transportation on College Street East is under construction of a 200,000 square foot warehouse. We do have other applications in, one for another small apartment building, by Phil Sprye on Great St James Street.”
