The city of Belleville could soon consider banning bottled water in it’s offices at city hall and other locations. Earlier this month the municipality of Tweed decided to join others across the province in no longer buying bottled water. Chair of Belleville’s Green Team, Councillor Tom Lafferty, says “it’s ludicrous” to buy water when it has its own “very safe” water that it sells to residents. And, he says, only about four-percent of the bottles are ever recycled.. Lafferty says he will “personally” put the bottled water issue on the Green Team’s agenda this year.
