A 40-year-old man who drove a transport into an apartment building on Union Street is now facing two attempted murder charges, along with two counts of uttering threats and one count each of impaired driving and breach of recognizance.
Earlier charges of assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle were dropped.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning around 11:30 when the man with no fixed address collided into the building and a van.
The apartment building was evacuated and one woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The man appeared in court this afternoon for a show cause hearing.
Some residents of the building have been able to return to their apartments while others remain evacuated as damage to the building is further assessed by engineers.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Hatfield at 613-966-0882, dhatfield@police.belleville.on.ca or anonymously through Quinte Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
