Potter Settlement Artisan Wines is celebrating a huge accomplishment.
The National Wine Awards of Canada have awarded the Tweed winery’s 2017 Marquette a gold medal.
Twenty-two judges assembled in Wellington to determine the world’s best wines and the Marquette wine beat out wines from 259 different wineries world-wide and out of 1,815 entries.
The National Wine Awards of Canada is the most prestigious in Canada and owner Sandor Johnson says they are elated to be medaled a gold out of 1815 entries and hundreds of competing international wineries.
Potter Settlement won the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation in 2017 for being the first winery to plant this grape in Canada.
This award is the 13th medal for Potter Settlement this year.
The VQAO announced last January that it has elected to approve Marquette in Ontario and has submitted their recommendation to the Provincial government for legal ratification.
If ratified, Marquette will be the first grape to be approved by the Ontario government in 30 years. The last grape was Baco Noir.
