The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has announced its new Director of Education.
Sean Monteith will take over from Mandy Savery-Whiteway on August 15, after Savery-Whiteway announced her retirement earlier this year.
Monteith has been the Director of Education at the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board in Northwestern Ontario since 2013, where among other accomplishments, he developed a number of programs to help improve education outcomes for Indigenous and First Nations youth students in that area.
Monteith holds bachelor’s degrees from both the University of Ottawa and Lakehead University, and is pursuing his PhD through the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
The HPEDSB says Monteith is an outdoors enthusiast who enjoys fishing and hunting with family and friends, and says he’ll be relocating to the Quinte region in the coming weeks.
