Members of the Peterborough County OPPÂ and emergency crews were called to assist after a swimmer failed to surface after jumping into Cavendish Lake Saturday night shortly before 10:30 p.m.
Twenty-year-old Whitechurch-Stouffville native Ryan Taylor was jumping off a dock with three friends when he failed to surface. The friends contacted emergency services.
Trent Lakes Fire Department found Taylor in the water and initiated CPR.
Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene and his body has since been transported to the Provincial Forensic Pathology Unit at the Forensic Services and Coroners Complex in Toronto for a postmortem examination.
