An original Belleville Senator is moving on.
Former captain Erik Burgdoerfer has signed a one year contract and will return to the Hershey Bears where he played in 2016.
Burgdoerfer was an unrestricted free agent. He played on Belleville’s blueline in their first two seasons in the American Hockey League.
Last year the 30 year old native of Abbington Pennsylvania scored 5 goals and and 13 assists and was third on the team with a plus-18 rating in 64 games. He also skated in four NHL contests with Ottawa.
The B-Sens expect to be deep on defence this season after re-signing Cody Goloubef, Andreas Englund and Jordan Murray while adding Jack Dougherty and Hubert Labrie through free agency as well.
