A local accessible baseball diamond is getting more good news.
This week the footings for the Quinte Field of Ability for Challenger Baseball were poured at the Parkdale ball site.
On Wednesday morning, city Mayor Mitch Panciuk, along with other dignitaries accepted a cheque for $10,000 from the Frank Cowan Company and the Cowan Foundation.
The Frank Cowan Company insures the City of Belleville and other municipalities coast to coast.
Larry Ryan is their president and could not say enough good things on the project.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk says this donation is a recognition of the people the municipality does business with.
A look at the work from Tuesday at the site is below.
The Quinte Field of Ability is going to provide a fully accessible baseball field for those with physical or mental limitations.
The end result of the project will feature a newly paved trail through the park, a new covered picnic shelter, a repaved and extended parking lot, four universal washrooms in the Community Centre, and a barrier-free baseball field with a fully rubberized turf, an extended outfield for multi-sport use, full field fencing, covered dugouts, bleachers, a storage shed, an announcer’s booth, and an electric score board.
