A heat warning remains in effect for today for the Quinte region as a hot and humid airmass is sticking around.
Environment Canada states the heat event will continue into today (Saturday).
Temperatures will remain near 30 degrees Celsius with humidex values in the upper 30s.
However, with the passage of a cold front, cooler temperatures and lower humidity is expected for the remainder of the weekend.
Extreme heat affects everyone.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
