City of Belleville council is expected to sign off on a modified agreement to attract a doctor specializing in much needed areas of medicine at its meeting Monday afternoon.
Under the agreement, Dr. Scott Curran has guaranteed three years of service in the city in exchange for $75,000 spread over three years from the city from funds available in the Physician Recruitment Program.
Dr. Curran is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology and is just finishing his residency and will be opening a practice soon.
City staff say the doctor has indicated he intends to stay in Belleville beyond his three year guarantee.
Since 2007, 35 physicians, mostly family doctors, have taken advantage of the city’s program.
