A strategic plan was unveiled this week by the Belleville Downtown Improvement Area.
On Tuesday evening, stakeholders, along with business and property owners met to discuss the next four years, the term of the new Board of Directors.
They came up with four objectives, which focused on the downtown’s image, engaging investors, encouraging new business investment, and improving the downtown experience. See below for more breakdown
Recent changes have included moving the methadone clinic and tearing down the former strip club across from city hall.
Quinte News asked BDIA Executive Director Marijo Cuerrier if she wanted to see the Cabaret parking lot stay a location for parking.
Board Chair Kathryn Brown says the four objectives are linked together.
The goal is to also get 50 new residential units in the BDIA territory, 100 in the downtown.
Parking is also a focus.
OBJECTIVES
- Change the public perception of downtown Belleville from lacklustre to vibrant.
2. Encourage new business investment to increase BDIA commercial occupancy rate and create more downtown activity.
3. Ignite current downtown investors (property and business owners) to become champions for a vital downtown.
4. Improve the downtown customer experience and make downtown Belleville the place where people want to meet.
