Quinte West OPP are joining many other police services and health care providers in warning the public to be wary of buying pills or marijuana from dealers on the streets.
The warning comes after police say there have been a number of suspected opioid overdoses in Quinte West and elsewhere in the Quinte region.
The most recent incident in Quinte West occurred June 15 and OPP are investigating a suspected fatal overdose on the Tyendinaga Territory last weekend.
Any drug can be infiltrated with fentanyl or carfentanil which are between 40 and 100 times more powerful than heroin.
Tiny amounts can be fatal.
