He says this plan may have had an impact on one of the longest shorelines in Prince Edward County and one of their biggest concerns is that if this isn’t looked at, 2020 may be even worse.
Councils in the City of Quinte West and the Municipality of Brighton have already passed a resolution asking that the International Joint Commission and the Federal Government abandon the plan.
Belleville city council also passed a similar resolution on Tuesday evening at their council meeting.
Flooding along Lake Ontario in this area has been even worse than in 2017 which was considered the worst in over 100 years. Damage has been considerable and costs to businesses and municipalities astronomical.
The resolution calls for an immediate study of this year’s flood and that of 2017, pointing to better ways of handling water levels in the Lake Ontario/St. Lawrence River System.
