The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) marine units will be patrolling the Trent River, the Bay of Quinte and surrounding waterways during the summer months ensuring public safety on our waterways.
With the higher than average water levels on the Bay of Quinte and Trent River it is important to respect the speed limits and be mindful of wake. The entrance of the Trent River from the Dundas Street bridge has a 10 km/h speed limit for all water vessels as well as any vessel within 100 feet from shore.
The wake can be very damaging when water levels are as high as they are currently; officers ask that all boaters are cautious of their wake at all times including in and around the Trent Port Marina.
Marine officers will continue to enforce all laws surrounding safe boating, including speed limits and safety equipment checks to ensure that all boaters on the water have safety as their top priority.
Life jackets and PFDs are not an optional piece of equipment; keep everyone safe on board your vessel by providing a proper fitting life jacket or PFD in good working condition for each operator and passenger on your vessel. All life jackets and PFDs must meet Canadian standards.
