Napanee’s Britt Benn and the Canadian Women’s 7s Rugby Team have qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
Benn scored a tri in Canada’s 27-10 win over Ireland in the bronze medal game of the final HSBC series in France.
Canada finishes third in the 6 tournament series which qualifies them for the Olympics with New Zealand, the U.S and Australia.
Benn finished 4th on Team Canada with 12 tries and 60 points in the series.
This will be will be Benn’s second trip to the Summer Games. She won an Olympic bronze medal in Canada’s Rugby 7s debut in Rio in 2016. Benn was also a part of Canada’s gold medal team at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto as well as silver in the 2014 World Rugby Cup.
