Quinte West man charged with trafficking cocaine
Cocaine trafficking charges have been laid after police executed a search warrant in Quinte West this past Wednesday.
Officers made their search on Old Highway 2 and found suspected drugs, Canadian cash, a modified gun and ammunition.
Fifty-year-old Roddie Mak of Quinte West is charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts each of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon and careless storage of a firearm or ammunition.
He’ll appear in Belleville court on July 15 to answer to the charges.
Assault with a weapon charges laid
Quinte West OPP have made an arrest after an alleged shoplifting incident at a Dundas Street East business this past Tuesday.
Police were called after the suspect was approached by a staff member and allegedly showed a weapon, before leaving the scene.
Officers weren’t able to locate the suspect that day, but responded to a similar complaint on Thursday morning at a west end business, where a suspect had shown a weapon and rode away on a bike.
An investigation led police to 27-year-old Richard Adriaans, of Quinte West, who has been charged with two counts each of theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and breaching probation.
He was also charged with one count of escaping lawful custody and was scheduled for a Friday bail hearing in Belleville.
