Some big aircraft from CFB Trenton and some historical planes from Ottawa will conduct a special flyover in Hamilton this week.
A CC-150 Polaris, CC-177 Globemaster and up to two CC-130J Hercules from 8 Wing will fly over the Hamilton Golf and Country Club on Thursday, as part of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

It also marks the start of the PGA Tour’s Canadian Open, being held at the golf course from Thursday to Sunday.
Along with the planes from Trenton, a Douglas C-47 Dakota, B-25 Mitchell and Avro Lancaster from the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum will also take part.

Some 14,000 Canadians were party of the D-Day mission, storming the beaches of Normandy alongside allied troops, with 950 Canadian casualties, mostly from the 3rd Canadian Division.
