After trying to out-wait Mother Nature, city of Belleville staff have decided to not prolong the launch of the 2019 Pop-ups on the Bay any longer.
However, there is one change; the project will be launched at West Riverside Park on Moira Street East instead of Victoria Park.
The rising waters have closed the west leg of the access roadway and Victoria Park and Victoria Harbour are closed to all but local traffic.
Brick Oven Pizza Truck, Doug’s Bicycle and Golden Scoop are all set to open for business on Friday, June 7 from 4-7 p.m. for the launch of this year’s pop-ups project.
A launch party will be held to kick off this season and there will be live music, food, park games and activities all to help kick off summer here in Belleville and pop-ups on the Bay.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says moving the project wasn’t what anyone wanted to see happen but they were presented with limited options that provided the required infrastructure and safety elements for operators, residents and visitors.
Cruising Canoes was set to join the other three businesses but has been unable to secure a suitable and safe location for their operation says Development and Tourism assistant Elisha Purchase.
The new location also provides, electricity, water and washroom facilities.
Brick Oven Pizza will serve up authentic, delicious, traditional, fire-cooked pizza from its brand new mobile food truck. They’ll be offering fire-cooked, thin, crispy pizzas offered with a wide variety of toppings.
Doug’s Bicycle will be offering rentals of their bikes to let residents and visitors alike enjoy the breathtaking scenery and wildlife along the waterfront, one of the most beautiful areas to ride.
Golden Scoop will offer Canadian made and locally produced ice cream along with Biosteel Freezies for those who are active and may require an energy boost during their visit to the waterfront.
