Cobourg Police say a youth has been arrested and charged with uttering threats in connection to a lockdown at a Cobourg high school Monday morning.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the school around 8:45 a.m. after threats were made on social media in regards to a firearm.
The person making the threats was not at the school, but a lockdown was initiated to ensure student, staff and public safety.
Members of the OPP found and detained the individual for further investigation.
The youth’s name will not be released and a court date is pending.
There was no threat to public safety.
