After winning gold medals in their respective events on Thursday Jake Hollinger of East Northumberland Secondary School and Jesse Brunner from Napanee District topped the podium again on Friday at the East Regional Track and Field championships in Belleville.
Hollinger finished first in the grueling Senior Mens 3000 Metre race to go along with his previous gold in the 1500 metres. Following up on her gold medal in the in Thursday’s Junior Womens Triple Jump Brunner finished first in the Long Jump.
Also from Brighton Tristan Flatt was first in the Senior Mens Discus and Isaac Hollinger first in the Junior Mens 800 metres.
From Centre Hastings Secondary, Anna Phillips won the Midget Womens Javelin and finished third in the Triple Jump. Logan Evans won gold in the Junior Long Jump.
Olivia Onuah and Aleisha Rose from St. Theresa finished first in the Senior Discus and Midget Shot Put events respectively.
Sam Hall of ENSS finished second in the Senior High Jump and 3rd in the 100 Metres. Frank Vreugdenhil of Quinte Christian earned silver in the Senior Mens Shot Put and bronze in Discus
Silver medals go to Gavin Camp and Kieren Lewis of ENSS and Bayside’s Liam Walsh in the 2000 metre Steeplechase. Quinte Christian’s Talia Vreugdenhil claimed silver in the Midget Discus.
Abigail McAlpine from Marc Garneau finished third in the Midget High Jump.
Next up for those qualifying is the final event. The Ontario High School Track and Field Thursday and Friday at the University of Guelph.
