It’s not as well known as it should be. The provincial or federal government does not buy medical equipment for hospitals.
It is donations from individuals, families, businesses and organizations that pay for all of the equipment used to treat illness and save lives.
Wednesday night, donors to the Belleville General Hospital Foundation were recognized at a Partners in Health Care Appreciation Reception.
Vice-President of Quinte Health Care Brad Harrington thanked donors, big and small, for making quality health care possible by providing
medical equipment for BGH.

“Because of your generosity, we have state of the art equipment and because we have the best equipment we can attract top physicians. While a lot of you
might not know how much of a difference you’re making, I certainly do. I am in the hospital most days of the year. With your donations and mine, I know we are
saving lives all the time.”

Speaking on behalf of the medical staff, the Chief/Medical Director Diagnostic Imaging Dr. Emma Robinson told donors they were an “integral part of our team.”
Dr. Robinson said that without the public’s generosity there would be no x-rays, no CT or MRI scans, no nuclear medicine. “Without you, we wouldn’t have the tools
to help people.”
