The effort to attract doctors to the Quinte area has taken a new turn in the Quinte West – Brighton area.
Quinte West, Brighton and the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation have teamed up to provide an information session for students of all ages interested in learning more about becoming a physician.
They’re calling it Medical School 101.
There will be a panel discussion featuring local physicians, resident doctors, and medical students.
Hospital Foundation spokesperson Wendy Warner tells Quinte News the idea is to get interested high school students information about studying for medical school entrance tests and more.
The session will be held in Quinte West council chambers at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
There will be panelists, including physicians Dr. David DeGrace and Dr.Kelly Bishop, plus some medical students at various levels of their education, who are in Quinte West doing rotation duty.
Warner says information will be provided regarding what courses to take, what exams are needed for entrance to medical school, what looks good on the student application, what to expect in medical school.
There will also be an opportunity to ask those questions of the panelists.
